Long Lost Blog

To say it has been a while is an understatement. I am married to my lovely wife with two sons in college. I feel that life is the same with some slight changes in my perspective of the world. But, isn't that life as we get older and wiser, changes in latitude. Oh, wait i slipped into a Jimmy Buffet song. I have spent more than 10 years now working for local government in Technology. I find it fulfilling in a way that keeps me engaged and excited to go to work everyday and take on challenges. There are always more efficient and cost effective ways of getting things done. It makes sense that i am a registered republican. I want to be back soon, we will see.

Reflect the year again

It's a wonder that i think about this blog from time to time but a do not post as often as think about it. If i did post that often it would be more like once a month.

My shop is complete and it is the envy of the neighbors and my family. I must say that it is impressive that i was able to pack so much into it's construction and maintain costs. I am enjoying it but i need to get going on the next projects which is to rebuild the sunroom and redo siding on house.

Tyler is tall as me now and is beginning to plan for college which i am not comfortable with yet. He has a new girlfriend every month.

Work has leveled off for the school year which allows us to refocus on the projects we want to accomplish.

Holiday time 2009 - 2010

Whoa. It has been a solid year since my last update so i stink so i will try and re-engage my blog. :-)

This time of the year is busy around my house with the shop moving into a completed phase and allows me to clear the house of stuff to the shop. I need to get my shop lift going but it could be costly.

The jeep came together this year and rocks. I bought a CJ7 that was not running and i fixed it up so that it barely road worthy. I totally enjoy driving it because it's like little vacations to me while i am driving. Currently i need to replace the water pump and get some of the electrical working but it is the funniest investment since the jet ski.

I cannot believe that i own a jet-ski and a jeep as toys. I guess the 4-wheeler worked out years ago so it should work out.

At work the HyperV and clustering is kicking so no new technologies this coming year i hope. This year will be completing voice for all schools and updating WiFi and hardwire.

Planning to put the siding on the shop & the sunroom in the spring if a can stay off the ski & jeep. :-)

Later. Welcome 2010.

Holiday time

It's the time between Christmas & New Year and the weather is hot & sticky here in the south. The temp is 77 degrees and 100% precipitation. The holiday festivities are good and i have been able to get some work done for the office but not @ my house unfortunately. I need to kick my own but to get my garage construction going! I need a work shop!

Ty is enjoying the holiday but i think he is a little stir crazy. He needs to be able to get out and maybe ride his quad or get his jeep stuck in the mud somewhere.

The new year will bring lots of work @ the office that i am excited about :-) Hyper-V, clustering, new Web 2.0 company website & MS SCCM. Yippie.

Later.

Hey Ho from Seattle

I am chillin in the Seattle airport awaiting my return flight to LC after a week in Seattle. I was attending a Technology & Leadership conference as well as delivering a presentation on VoIP. This was a nice trip and a well earned decompression from work. Another State conference in a month where i will present on SIF which will be nice. I need to begin beating the bushes for attendance from LaDoe decision makers and technologists.

I received a txt message from Brandi that Tyler's jeep threw the belts so they were replaced, $100. His soccer season has begun and i am anxious to see him play again. It has been several years since i have seen him play soccer. It makes me happy when he participates in any sport.

Extended the concrete slab to accommodate shop width. I hope to begin construction after my dad finishes the house they are currently working on in Chioupique. Winter is coming so i hope that i am able to get something going before the weather turns bad.

1hr to flight time and this At&t wireless is kickin. I am glad i activated it thru my home DSL account for free. Thats all for now.

Silly Hurricane

As i sit here on a weekday morning wishing i had a newspaper delivered sipping my coffee i can hear the hum of generators in my neighborhood. Hurricane Gustav slip by us yesterday and was not much of an event, i never lost power or received more than an inch or so of rain.

The building permit was not easy to come by but once the permit department were made aware that it is a hurricane rebuild they were more lenient. I now have the building permit & the funds so it's just about deciding how and when to build.

Ty is driving himself to school and is doing fine. He is playing soccer for his school which is good exercise.

Job searching.

Summer is a rollin

Updates from the last blog are that i studied hard and passed the PMP at the end of July. The only problem with that is that it blew all my free time in the month of July due too studying. But! its done. :-) I made a trip to Florida Key Biscayne & Key Largo a week after the test to unwind with AJ.

Ty is driving but gas prices are high and the jeep is not an economy vehicle so he is beginning to understand the costs involved with owning a vehicle. He still needs a job though i say. We have been kickin it with the jetski as much as we can. Ty takes it out alone and with friends as do i. It has held up remarkably well considering the abuse we have been putting it through. Good investment so far.

I found out that a building permit is harder to come by now after the storm for my garage. I will complete the necessary paperwork this week and turn it in to the city. Without the permit i am not supposed to do anything.

On the job front the school year is nearing and the summer projects i planned were mostly completed. Those that were not completed were due to vendor & equipment setbacks. I am updating my resume currently which is a mess.

Later.
